Wallachia (ワラキア,, Warakia) (or Walachia) was an empire located in Romania.

In Hellsing this empire was the home to Alucard, who was revealed to be actually Vlad the Imapler, the former Voivode of Wallachia. Wallachia was founded as a principality in the early 14th century by Basarab I after a rebellion against Charles I of Hungary, although the first mention of the territory of Wallachia west of the river Olt dates to a charter given to the voivode Seneslau in 1246 by Béla IV of Hungary. Around the 15th century, Wallachia had an estimate around over 500,000 people and by 1859,the population of Wallachia was 2,400,921 .

Voivode

"Voivode (ヴォイヴォダ,, Voivoda)" is a title denoting a warlord or, a Slavic Military Commander in South East Europe since the middle ages, and is primarily referred to the medieval rulers of Romanian states. The term "Voivode" comes from two roots; "Voi" is related to warring, while "Vod" means 'leading' in Old Slavic, together meaning 'war leader' or 'warlord'.

Equipments

In Hellsing, the soldiers of Wallachia when Vlad was still ruling, wore basic medieval armors, and uses spears and swords as their main weapon.

Vlad the Impaler

The former "Voivode" of Wallachia, Vlad Tepes (ヴラド・ツェペシュ,, Vurado Tsepeshu) was the legitimate second son of Vlad II Dracul (ヴラド・ドラクル,, Vurado Dorakuru), who became the ruler of Wallachia in 1436. He and his younger brother Radu was held hostages in the Ottoman Empire some time later, because his father, Vlad Dracul, King of Wallachia, which was a Ottoman vassal state. Vlad's eldest brother and his father was murdered after Hunyadi János (フニャディ・ヤーノシュ,, Funyadi Yānoshu), recent governor of Hungary, invaded Wallachia.

Events of Hellsing

However, before Vlad was beheaded, Vlad felt betrayed by God and sold his soul to the devil, therefore, licking the blood that was in front of him just before he was beheaded - and later, he was woken as a vampire and devoured, drank the blood of the Ottoman's that was involved during his execution. He also sucked his soldiers blood, therefore, the Soldiers that died with Vlad, appears during the events of 1999, the Battle of London - a war between the Iscariot Organization, Hellsing Organization, and finally, the Millennium Organization.

However, Abraham Van Helsing, when he defeated Vlad, who was known as "Dracula", stated that he had killed all his Familiars - which possibly means that he and group killed the Wallachia soldiers, and somehow Abraham found a way to bring all of them back inside Dracula, possibly with the many experiments he tested on him.
