The bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame.
The Promotional Video of the Hellsing: Ultimate OVA series is a PV produced by Satelight, based upon the Hellsing manga series created by Kohta Hirano.
It was specifically made in order to showcase the updated character designs to the fans who were waiting for the first OVA to come out; broadcasted during the convention center of the announcement back in 2005 of Anime Expo.[1] The trailer is widely known as the Broken English Trailer of the series, due to the broadcast appearance using a cover version of Marianne Faithfull's song, Broken English, by SCHAFT.
Promotion and Release
Being made first before the first installment, the PV adapted various sequences from the original manga, most notably; the battle between Alucard and Rip Van Winkle, along with Millennium bombing London. It also featured a new action sequence between Alucard and Anderson which is not derived from the manga, and was only made in order to hype up fans of the show. Satelight used a combination of cel art and digital painting, in which, it was first drawn traditionally before being scanned and colored digitally.
The series was set to be announced in Anime Expo of 2005, with two guest appearances from the likes of Yasuyuke Ueda, the producer of the series, and Kohta Hirano, the creator of the series.. It was the most anticipated panels. Before the crew come on stage however, the Broken English trailer played first, which lasted over 6 minutes and showcased fans appearing on what it'd look like.[2] In addition, Hellsing was the last series Geneon showed up to the panel.[3]
At a later date, the trailer would appear as a special in one of the Blu-ray versions of the OVA, but instead of Broken English playing over it, various soundtrack composed by Hayato Matsuo instead plays over it.

Versions
Broken English
The Broken English Version of the PV is the one that played during the Anime Expo 2005 panel of Hellsing: Ultimate. Similarly to the song, the trailer lasts for approximately 6 minutes; making it seem that the PV was made in order to match the song that will be played over. However later on, Broken English would later be an insert song of the series itself; being played on the fifth installment of Ultimate.
Soundtrack Version
The PV made its way onto the Limited Edition release of Hellsing: Ultimate II. However, it instead is played over by Hayato Matsuo's soundtrack he composed for the series. In addition to having Hayato Matsuo's track being played over, the PV included in the DVD also alters and cuts scene, arranging the time from 6:25 to instead a total of 5 minutes. The credits that tells the viewers what song is playing on is removed, along with some of the credits asides from the song is also removed.
