The group of strong, brave men were brought together by Abraham Van Helsing in order to defeat and put an end to Dracula and save Mina Harker from turning into an undead being.

The Vampire Hunters

They were a group of strong, capable men brought together by Abraham Van Helsing to defeat Dracula from fully turning Mina Harker into a vampire and to be his eternally.

History

Dracula

The group formed after Lucy Westenra had been gotten sick, and as a last resort, Jack Seward calls his professor, Abraham Van Helsing, whom he claimed to know better than anyone when it comes to mysterious and unnamed diseases. Van Helsing arrives in Whitby and, after his initial examination of Lucy, orders that her chambers be covered with garlic. For a time, this effort seems to stave off Lucy’s illness. She begins to recover, but her mother, unaware of the garlic’s power, unwittingly removes the odiferous plants from the room, leaving Lucy vulnerable to further attack. Seward and Van Helsing spend several days trying to revive Lucy, performing four blood transfusions. Their efforts ultimately come to nothing. One night, the men momentarily let down their guard, and a wolf breaks into the Westenra house. The shock gives Lucy’s mother a fatal heart attack, and the wolf attacks Lucy, killing her.

Not fully convinced that Lucy is actually dead, Van Helsing decided to lead the three men who were in love with him to Lucy's grave, and in doing so, he told the rest that Lucy had transformed into a creature known as a Vampire. While they were unconvinced by Van Helsing's words at first, they were proven very wrong after seeing Lucy preying on a defenseless child, which eventually convinced them to put an end to this. They agree to follow the ritual of vampire slaying to ensure that Lucy’s soul will return to eternal rest. While the undead Lucy sleeps, Holmwood plunges a stake through her heart. The men then cut off her head and stuff her mouth with garlic. After this deed is done, they pledge to destroy the culprit.

Hellsing

In the middle of the night, the culprit, otherwise known as the mysterious "Count Dracula," succeeded in biting Mina Harker, Arthur's fiancé. He proceeded to drink from her and feed her his own blood, making her into a vampire as well, but bonding her to himself as his servant vampire.

Knowing time is short and the only way to save Mina is to defeat Dracula, Van Helsing leads a frantic search for the count. Due to her telepathic link to the No-Life King, they were able to use Mina to trace Dracula's steps, finally finding his whereabouts after putting her into a hypnotic state.

The group finally followed the count back to his castle and confronted him for a battle just before dawn. After a fierce battle, Van Helsing and the others cornered the count, and Quincey Morris was able to drive a stake through the No-Life King, defeating the count by the light of the coming dawn. The wafer marks left Mina's flesh, a fact that Van Helsing took the opportunity to shout at the disgraced vampire and again plunge the stake deeper into the count's heart. However, Abraham decided not to deliver the finishing blow to his felled foe, instead taking Dracula's now powerless form with him back to England.

Legacy

After the defeat of Count Dracula, each member decides to live their own lives peacefully. However, Abraham Van Helsing, after discovering that there are some more vampires out there, decided to create an organization also known as the Royal Order of Protestant Knights, A.K.A.—The Hellsing Organisation. By saving Dracula, a very small essence of him still remained inside of Mina.
