Summary

In Ferdinant Lukes, Alexander Anderson watches the chaotic event over at Rio de Janeiro with great anticipation. Meanwhile, the mastermind behind the framing of Alucard and Seras Victoria as terrorists, Tubalcain Alhambra, receives reports of the teams on the ground. He tells them to do the very best they can do if they wish to be immortal. In Hotel Rio, the GATE team leading the attack reaches the top room and breaches the suite. Integra Hellsing discusses the event with concern and frustration, but Walter C. Dornez stays calm. What awaits the GATE team is a coffin; later they find Alucard and tear him apart with their weapons, but he regenerates and slaughters them all, much to Seras' horror.

Synopsis

In Rome, over at the Ferdinant Lukes orphanage, Anderson watches the TV reporting the events in Rio with enjoyment and excitement. Though one of his children concerns him about dinner, he brushes it off and tells him to tell the dorm mother that he will be there soon. When the door shuts, he smiles and tells the freaks to dance for his amusement, demanding hell be shown. Elsewhere, near the camp set up in the vicinity of Hotel Rio, Tubalcain Alhambra monitors the whole operation. He then receives reports that the GATE team is ready to breach in to eliminate the target, to which the amused Tubalcain claps his hand, commending the commanders, later telling them to do their very best if they wish to "see a land with no old age or disease (i.e., immortality)."

The GATE team reaches the top floor of Hotel Rio as they ready their position, fully armed. Meanwhile, at the Hellsing Headquarters, Walter C. Dornez informs Integra Hellsing that the television crews have ceased vidding the hotel, causing Integra to predict that they are ready to infiltrate, an action that she considers foolish and hardly rational, and then he asks Walter about what Alucard would do in the face of the tactical squadron. Walter comments that it is merely a hindrance to his overall objective and implies that Alucard would slaughter them as he does with any other hostile forces. In shock, Integra asks if Alucard would be willing to kill a human force, to which Walter reminds her that when it comes to monsters, Alucard is the "genuine article."

Concurrently, the assault team breaches the room to face nothing. Subsequently, they explore the room and later find a coffin. Confused and dumbfounded, one of the members utters the word embedded on the coffin, "The bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame." However, from a distance, Alucard demands that they do not touch his coffin, shocking the squadron. They then ask Alucard to freeze, but he insists that they do not touch his coffin and get away from his coffin. The soldiers respond by firing at him, shredding his body. One of the members calls him a twisted bastard but remarks that they had orders to shoot and kill in the first place but notes that it was overkill. However, one member argues that they were told to not take any chances and comments that Alucard was stupid, and then the other one says that their work is half-done and they should spread out to find the woman.

Just then, they soon hear Alucard's corpse call them hounds. Alucard praises their power, but he proclaims that a pack of hounds cannot beat him; he continues by saying that he cannot be killed by dogs and states that what defeats a monster is always a man as he reforms his body and regenerates from his wounds. Right after, he strikes and bites one of the squadron on the neck, ripping his head off, and then he proceeds to eviscerate the other with a single punch before ripping apart further GATE members, which all was done with him counting from 1 to 3. He then corners the only survivor, who tries to escape, but holds the door closed with his telekinetic prowess, mocking the man. As the man falls over to a seating position, scared, he pulls out a pistol and aims it over to Alucard, calling him a freak in the process. In response, Alucard asks what that makes the man: a man, a dog, or a freak.

However, the man responds by putting a gun to his own head, pulling the trigger, and killing himself; this surprises Alucard, who recoils in disgust and anger. He calls out to Seras, who is startled by the gore, and then Alucard tells her to get ready as they are vacating the premises. Mumbling, Alucard slowly turns back to Seras to ask what's wrong, to which Seras nervously says that they are humans. Asking Seras, "So what?" he is then met with a repetition by Seras, which angers him. He then grabs Seras by the collar and shouts at her, expressing that the fact that they are humans does not matter in that they seek confrontation and to kill and make them rot, or to be killed and rot away themselves; he continues by stating that that is the way of war: they gambled on the cards they had with their weak hand, and so they (Alucard and Seras) must kill them regardless of their nature.

He expresses that this is something he cannot change, not even God or the Devil. Speechless, Seras starts to tear up, which makes Alucard snap and realize that he has gone too far. He lets Seras go but reaffirms his points, then invites her to come follow him "in fear" through the darkest gloom. Seras responds by saying, "Yes, sir," joining him.
