XANADO《Zanado》is the eighth chapter of Hellsing: Volume 5, and the overall thirty-fifth chapter of the Hellsing manga created by Kohta Hirano.
Summary
With the looming airships that have arrived in the skylines of London, the Last Battalion anticipates the incoming war. Meanwhile, as the attack commences, the headquarters of the British National Security Guidance Division sees a sudden loss in communications, receiving only a telegraph from the Irish Brigade of the Royal Guard of a sudden invasion from unknown forces. Walter C. Dornez quickly dispatches traitors that invaded and held the marines hostage within the headquarters. Alexander Anderson angrily stares at the airships shadowing him.
Synopsis
The Major invites his men to raise Hell within London
The Last Battalion cramps the airship windows to oversee the looming London lights, gawking at the splendor of their homes for the longed-for battlefield. The Major tells his men that his promise to bring them back home is fulfilled, catching the excitement of his troops. He states that the sea lion has crossed the ocean and climbed onto the shore, requesting his men to transmit the arrival of Millennium to London to the rest of the members as an order from their leaders. He gestures his arms in a welcoming manner, suggesting that they should go and raise "Hell."
Elsewhere, in the headquarters of the British National Security Guidance Division, an unforeseen report came in of a communication lost with the Government Communications Headquarters, shocking Shelby M. Penwood. Multiple reports then suddenly came of multiple faulty communications with government agencies, with all public phone lines in the greater London area deemed "inoperable." The loss of communications extends to the Ark, Dorsetotia, and South Pool Air Bases, even with the headquarters of the Kings Greenwich and Bathchester Army Regiment. Contacts are then lost with the Atlantic Fleet Commander Center, the Ministry of Defense's Intelligence Control Division, and the Destroyer Forte Crest situated on the Thames River. These multiple communication losses lead to Penwood to speculate about a war.
Walter makes quick work of the treacherous soldiers
With urgency, one of the men receives a telegram from the Irish Brigade of the Royal Guard, reporting that they were attacked by unknown monsters. Integra Hellsing confirms Penwood's speculations, stating that the war has started. Suddenly, the room is breached by the treasonous commander and his vampiric comrades. The commander claims the room is "under the control of Millennium" and holds everyone inside at gunpoint. Appalled by their treachery, Penwood questions their actions, prompting the commander to reason vampirism as something that is "excellent" and remark on his luck in having been the one to snare Sir Hellsing, who laughs quietly in response, demeaning them in an act that angers the commander. She labels him a joke and sarcastically bids farewell, hoping that he will receive his Iron Cross in the afterlife.
Anderson furiously stares at the looming airships
Mere seconds before the commander could pull the trigger, Walter C. Dornez appears and effortlessly slices the vampires with his Monofilament Wires. Integra then sarcastically asks for Penwood's conditions, noting her previous suspicions of his betrayal, causing Penwood to state that he is no "sneak," even if he is incompetent. A report then came in of the appearances of a fleet of airships from 477 civilians, arousing skepticism as something that gigantic must not have gotten past their radars. The airships are projected to arrive over London in a "few dozen minutes." Meanwhile, Alexander Anderson stands and glares at the airships with resentment, uttering scriptures before exclaiming, "Amen."
