AUBIRD FORCE is the fifth chapter of Hellsing: Volume 6, and the overall forty-second chapter of the Hellsing manga created by Kohta Hirano.
Summary
The fight between the Iscariot Agency's Armed Priest Vanguard and the Last Battalion continues, as Integra Hellsing watches the chaos calmly. Meanwhile, within Amiens, France, Enrico Maxwell is promoted to the rank of Archiepiscopus and gains direct control of the Ninth Crusade assembled by the Pope in hopes of helping the Hellsing Agency battle against Millennium. In truth, Maxwell uses this opportunity to recapture Britain from Protestants. Alucard is spotted on the ruins of the HMS Eagle, inching closer towards the Thames River as Zorin Blitz's airship proceeds to the Hellsing Headquarters.
Synopsis
Integra Hellsing silently observes the insanity unfolding before her with a cigar, even when stray bullets narrowly miss her; Alexander Anderson and his Armed Priest Vanguard's battle continues, with the Vanguard suffering mass casualties. Meanwhile, on a nearby island within Amiens, France, on the shore opposite Dover, Enrico Maxwell awakes to news of Integra's capture by the Armed Priest Vanguard spearheaded by Anderson and therefore enters combat with the pursuing Last Battalion, much to the annoyance of Maxwell, who calls Anderson an "impetuous hothead" for disobeying orders.
Maxwell observes the flames of London from a nearby island opposing Dover, likening the great flames to "purgatory," complimenting the destruction Millennium had caused
Maxwell then stands, overlooking the skylines of London, which had turned into a great fire, prompting Maxwell to smile and liken the fire to "purgatory." The secretaries report that London is in a state of devastation since the raid, the continuing conflagration initiated by the Last Battalion counting up the numbers of the dead, with estimations of the dead and those who became ghouls unable to be tracked. Maxwell proclaims, "It's divine punishment," reasoning "heresy." His secretaries laugh and agree with Maxwell's assessment and his great mood. Maxwell is then informed that the United States is in chaos after 13 cabinet members and the president died, with the United States branch of Iscariot taking position surrounding the presidential residence.
The assembled Ninth Crusade forces appear to adhere to Maxwell's interests
Maxwell orders them to delay the attack as long as possible, seeking to take advantage of their turbulent situation. The secretaries question Maxwell's motivations for the delay, but Maxwell tells them that he has no interest as long as their main priority is not hindered, not caring for everything that does not correlate with Great Britain and the Hellsing Agency, not even The Major, who lies outside their "sacred interest." Maxwell smiles, expressing his motivations to attack both sides in a flank with everything they have in order to reclaim Britain for Europe from the "heretics" and "freaks" as the Ninth Crusade arrives.
A force totaling 3,172 members assembled at the request of the Pope for Maxwell to combat the Last Battalion. It consists of

- The Knights of the Sagely Brethren represent the Knight Order of the Sword of Courland (クールランテ剣の友修道騎士団長,, Kūrurante Ken no Tomo Shūdō Kishi Danchō) assembling 340 members.
- The Knights of the Order of Calatrava La Nueva (カラトラバ・ラ・ヌエバ騎士団長,, Karatoraba Ra Nueba Kishi Danchō) assembling 118 members.
- The Knights of the Military Order of Santo Stefano di Toscana (ステパノ騎士団 トスカナ軍団長,, Sutepano Kishi-dan Tosukana Gundan-chō) assembling 257 members.
- The Knights of the Order of Malta (マルタ騎士団,, Marutakishidan) assembling 2,457 members.
Maxwell accepts his role as "Archiepiscopus"
Maxwell smirks before looking back to the leaders of the knights bowing before him. Maxwell then receives a promotion to the rank of Archiepiscopus at the request of the Pope, promptly being given the decorated purple sash, and is entrusted with the command of the Ninth Crusade forces. Maxwell accepts, "body and soul." Maxwell proceeds to commence Reconquista and presents them with their first order: to target the British Empire and the dead city of London. The knights exclaim "Amen" and line up in formation, evoking laughter from Maxwell, who finally achieves his goal after being presumed a "devil child" and loathed as a "failure."
Alucard smells a familiar scent of "death" and "war"
His celebration is cut short when he is informed by a young priest to look over a satellite photographing a stranded British aircraft carrier within the sea. Baffled at the thought of a cruising ghost ship in ruins moving several knots towards London, Alucard stands and grasps, receiving a sense of nostalgia from a scent that he describes as "death" and "war." The secretaries realize the presence of Alucard on the ghost ship, provoking Maxwell to claim that he does not care since his master, Integra, is with them as a potential hostage. He proclaims that Hellsing, Millennium, and Alucard will cease to exist as he pronounces the time of "Earthly Agents of Divine Punishment."
The knights form in several helicopters, labeling the emblem of Iscariot, which then flies towards London. The young priest observes, remarking on their glee in launching an assault towards "Hell," questioning, "Who in the world among that killing field will be left alive in the end?" He concludes that every one of the participants of the war will happily die in the "gathering twilight." Zorin Blitz's forces continue to stride, inching closer towards the Hellsing Headquarters.
