SWORD DANCER ①《Sōdodansā-ichi》is the fourth chapter of Hellsing: Volume 1, and the overall fourth chapter of the Hellsing manga created by Kohta Hirano.
Summary
In light of recent events regarding vampires, Father Ronald of the Iscariot Agency tasks Alexander Anderson to head over to Badrick, a town located within Northern Ireland, in order to put an end to the Hellsing Agency's activities there due to the fact that they claim Ireland as a whole is their turf and that Hellsing had stepped upon it. Seras Victoria's training under Alucard within the vicinity of Badrick is put to a halt when Anderson hovers multiple bayonets towards Seras, stunning her but purposely missing her heart so she is not killed. Upon hearing the news that Anderson was sent, Integra Hellsing is stunned.
Synopsis
Ferdinant Lukes is an orphanage situated near Rome. As Father Alexander Anderson, the head of the orphanage, scolds two young orphans, Mark and Nepis, for fighting against each other, he quickly tells the orphans to go back to their rooms when he spots Father Ronald's presence. Stretching his neck, Anderson turns around and takes a walk with Ronald. Asking for what he can do to him, Ronald asks if Anderson knows about the recent spate of attacks regarding vampires, in which many are taking place, which is quite unusual, especially in England; not seeing any problem, Anderson suggests that they should let the Hellsing Agency take care of the work. However, Ronald remarks, "If it is... just England," which catches Anderson's attention. Ronald explains that the recent attack has now occurred in Ireland, Northern Ireland, in the vicinity of Badrick.
In excitement after not fighting vampires for a long time, Anderson quotes, "If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come! Amen!!" Afterwards, he heads out to Badrick
Anderson proceeds to insult Hellsing for stepping onto their borders, in which he claims that Ireland as a whole is the Vatican's only. Angered by Hellsing's appearance in Ireland, Ronald tells Anderson that they cannot just allow them to forestall in a vampire situation. Anderson then asks what he should do if he were to run into Hellsing, to which Ronald implies that if he were to run into Hellsing, then he should not back down from challenges by heretics, as they are the earthly agents of God. Smiling gleefully and manically, Anderson reads out a quote from the Bible, ending it with an "amen" as he heads towards Badrick sooner or later.
On August 15th, within the outskirts of Badrick, inside a building, Alucard cleans a battalion of ghouls as he searches for the host in order to eliminate and put an end to this massacre. Bringing in Seras Victoria to the mission, Alucard orders Seras to go ahead and do it for him, as it is a hassle and he has grown tired of them. Standing up, she quickly barges in through the next door and steps in, getting the attention of the ghouls, which allows Alucard to take a break. As Seras strides forward, quickly shooting the colony of ghouls with Baerlks, Alucard goes ahead and sits down near the stairs on the side, telling her to "knock 'em dead."
Alucard walks over to Seras, complimenting her actions and suggesting that they should find the vampire host
Pulling out a bag of medical blood from his coat, Alucard takes a sip of it as she compliments Seras, although he remarks that "she'd have to be good" for him to make her a blood relative. Until then, he was interrupted by a ghoul falling over at the side of him. As the ghoul gets up, Alucard quickly pulls out his .454 Casull and shoots him in the head, killing him instantly. Alucard takes this as evidence that Seras is still very hesitant with her killings, so he tells her to aim for the heart or the head and that they did not choose to be this way, so the only way to free them is by killing them quickly. Reloading her Baerlks, Seras sweats as she complies with Alucard's order, cocking the gun as she menacingly utters, "Sir, yes sir. My master." Smiling wide, Seras quickly charges at the ghouls, dodging incoming bullets from ghouls and killing them on the way. Before then, she jabs a ghoul in the face, slides to the ground, and then turns back and steps onto the ghoul's head. Then crushing it, as an impressed Alucard stands up from his break and compliments her for her actions, telling her that they should look out for the host.
Seras, attempting to resist the temptation of her vampiric nature to drink blood
He is stunned to see Seras ignoring him, but as soon as he realizes what is happening, he quickly smiles in excitement as to what is going to happen next: In temptation due to her vampiric nature, Seras takes a look at her hand covered in the blood of the ghouls, tempting her to lick and drink them. She struggles to put her temptation aside and only gets closer and closer, reaching her tongue out to lick the blood as Alucard watches. Only for her to be struck through the neck by a bayonet going through her. Seras screams as Alucard looks in shock. Before then, another wave of bayonets impales her that is carefully placed in order to avoid hitting her fatal point as she drops to the ground.
Anderson introduces Iscariot as God's representative
Then, a barrier made out of pages of the Bible surrounds the hallway with a nail stuck onto it to latch onto the wall while Alucard looks at his surroundings, stunned and caught off guard by an attack so sudden. Only then a creak from a stairway behind Alucard, along with Seras, stares at, revealing Anderson. Smiling manically with a bloodied bayonet in both hands, Anderson makes a cross-shaped pose with them and monologues, introducing Iscariot as "God's representative" and saying that their mission is to destroy the fools who would oppose their God. Back at the Hellsing Headquarters, Dextely Alphensys hastily informs Integra Hellsing of Anderson's appearance in Badrick, which shocked the former to her core.
